1. Open a player
Dishplay plays from the cloud onto a screen you already have. Use one of these:
- Smart TV or any computer browser: open player.dishplay.io.
- Fire TV: install Dishplay from the Amazon Appstore.
- Android box: install the Dishplay player APK from cdn.dishplay.io.
2. Pair the screen
The player shows Pair this screen and an 8-character code. That code is what you type into the portal. It uses letters and numbers that are easier to read off a TV: it skips O, 0, I, 1, S, and 5.
Sign in at portal.dishplay.io and add a screen:
- Name it for the spot in the restaurant, such as Counter or Drive-thru.
- Paste the code into Screen key.
- Choose the location. Create the location first if the list is empty. A screen cannot be saved without one.
Adding a screen needs an owner or an admin on the account. Editors can change content and playlists, and they cannot add a screen.
The player stays on Waiting for activation and checks about every 10 seconds. The code stays valid for 48 hours while that pairing screen is open. If the portal says the key expired, restart the player and use the new code it shows.
3. Upload the menu
In the portal, open Content and drop in the files for this screen. The library accepts JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP images, and MP4, WebM, and MOV video, up to 500 MB per file.
4. Build a playlist
Create a playlist and add those library items in the order they should play. An image stays up for the duration you set. A video plays for the length of the file. You can schedule an item for certain days and hours, so breakfast and happy hour can share one playlist.
5. Assign the playlist
On the screen, assign that playlist. The player downloads the files and starts the loop. A later edit in the portal reaches every screen using that playlist. Players keep a local copy of media they have already downloaded, so a short network drop does not blank a screen that was already playing.
